ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE SCHOOLS
Many mainstream colleges now teach alternative and complementary medicine to medical students- some even have course loads specifically designed for those who are interested in combining alternative medicine with standard contemporary medicine. These types of programs are often called intergrative medicine programs. These can be useful for those who want to work in both areas of medicine and are almost always accredited programs. As well, there are now accredited naturopathic medicine schools which offer a degree in naturopathic medicine. These types of schools and programs focus their studies primarily one being able to treat patients naturally and help heal the entire body and mind- the focus remains on the alternative idea of preventing disease by being healthy and well.
A naturopathic medicine degree takes four years to earn and one can only be admitted to a naturopathic medicine program after recieving a minimum of a bachelor's degree and also having successfully completed pre-med courses. Before one can be admitted to a naturopathic medicine program, their previous school performance and letters of references are reviewed.
Other forms of alternative medicine schools include massage therapy school, yoga instruction, acupuncture schools, aromatherapy courses and many others. Some of these programs are accredited and widely accepted, while many others still are not. Depending on one's locality, it may be difficult to find an alternative medicine school in any form. There are also now many online courses available for prerequisite courses and even some main coursework as well- as well, some of these are accredited and others are not.
The good news is that even alternative medicine schools and courses can recieve finanacial aid if one is eligible for it, as long as the course or school is accredited.
